When you see one person with ADHD, you’ve seen one person with ADHD. It comes in all forms and types. A few years ago, I interviewed Dr. Patricia Quinn who really illuminated my insight and helped me understand how ADHD manifests very differently in girls and women. She was a pioneer in this area and this interview really does a great job of delineating the differences.
Listen to my interview and understand how women internalize things more and how ADHD presents differently. Many women are diagnosed with depression first and then get diagnosed with ADHD down the road. This is in contrast to how boys get diagnosed sooner because they are more disruptive but don’t internalize the challenges as much. If you are female or you have a wife, girlfriend, or daughter, I encourage you to listen to this insightful podcast.
