You Know You Have ADHD When….

Comedians make us laugh by using humor making fun of human nature. For instance, comedian Jeff Foxworthy popularized the phrase, “You may be a redneck if…” and then adds a peculiar behavior or trait poking fun at what it means to be a redneck. Another humorous example is one we learned from comedian Rick Green, that you can’t laugh and cry at the same time.

Sometimes, humor is used as a shield, a defense mechanism or even as a psychological weapon. Even so, research shows that humor or laughter actually is healthful and is beneficial in the healing process.

Having a sense of humor helps to reduce the effects of stress. It makes us feel better and can distract us from pain, whether it’s physical, mental, or emotional. Those who have ADHD often experience frustration, feel guilty or even ashamed, and that’s where a sense of humor can help. If they learn to laugh a little more, they may be less likely to overreact when things don’t go as expected.

That’s why we wanted to share our own angle of this idea in an interview on Attention Talk Radio with Elaine Taylor-Klaus (https://impactparents.com) titled, “You know you have ADHD when….” If you have ADHD and want or even need a laugh today, check out our interview with Elaine here:  http://tobtr.com/8633069
